Art Room K — Art & Craft Classes for Children in Saitama City

About Art Room K

Since opening in Nakacho in the former city of Urawa in 1993, Art Room K has taught painting and crafts to many children in Saitama City. Lessons are taught in small groups of about 5 to 8 children.

Children work with a wide variety of materials — from watercolors, crayons and colored pencils to oil painting, clay and plaster sculpture, and crafts made from empty boxes and packing materials — developing their imagination and creativity. We can also help with ideas for summer vacation projects and crafts.

Curriculum (examples)

• Painting: watercolors, crayons and colored pencils — from how to hold a brush to oil painting
• Three-dimensional works using clay and plaster
• Free-form craft works using paper and plastic boxes, packing materials and more
• Painting on porcelain with transfer decals (Porcelarts) *We have an electric kiln

Classes & Schedule

Classes are held at two locations in Saitama City. (As of March 2026)

Plaza North Classroom (Kita-ku, Saitama City)

• Lesson dates are decided three months in advance through the public facility's reservation lottery.
• Capacity: about 7 children.
• Venue: Plaza North (プラザノース, さいたま市北区宮原町1丁目852-1), in the facility's studio or seminar rooms.
• The parking lot is often crowded, so please use public transportation.

Access

• 8-minute walk from Kamonomiya Station (加茂宮駅) on the New Shuttle line
• From Omiya Station East Exit, take a Tobu Bus bound for Ageo Station East Exit or Yoshinocho Shako (上尾駅東口・吉野町車庫行) and get off at “Kitakuyakusho-mae” (北区役所前)
• Saitama City Community Bus, Kita-ku Route: get off at “Kitakuyakusho-mae” (北区役所前)

Kitaurawa Classroom (Urawa-ku, Saitama City)

• Lesson dates are decided three months in advance.
• If you miss a lesson, you can make it up on another day of the week.
• Parent-and-child lessons, and lessons with a parent accompanying toddlers and kindergarten children, are also available. Please contact us for details.
• Lessons are taught in small groups.
• You are welcome to visit and observe a class. For other lesson times, please contact us.
• Address: さいたま市浦和区領家4-24-6 (4-24-6 Ryoke, Urawa-ku, Saitama City)
• There is no parking. Please do not park on the street when dropping off or picking up your child.

Access

From Kitaurawa Station (北浦和駅), take a Tobu Bus bound for Miyashita, Higashiarai Danchi or Iwatsuki (宮下・東新井団地・岩槻行) and get off at “Ryoke Shobosho-mae” (領家消防署前). The classroom is a 1-minute walk from the bus stop, behind the JA (農協) building.

Fees

Participation fees, material costs and costs for motifs (objects to draw) are charged at actual cost. The monthly fee includes the curriculum. For the enrollment fee and monthly fee, please contact us.
